Product documentation

MapMons, in plain English.

Short, factual answers about what MapMons does, how it handles data, and where version 1 stops.

MapMons is a Chrome extension for freelance web designers and small web agencies. MapMons qualifies local-business prospects while the user browses Google Maps.

Platform

Google Chrome extension, Manifest V3.

Workflow

Google Maps badges, filters, local audits, and CSV export.

Free tier

Core qualification tools and five lifetime exported rows.

Data model

Session leads stay in tab memory. Settings, counts, and caches use Chrome storage.

Find local businesses without websites

MapMons finds local businesses without websites by reading the Google Maps listings already visible in the user’s current browser tab. A business with no website and enough visible customer proof receives a Goldmine verdict.

MapMons also identifies social-only links and broken website links. A social-only profile is useful evidence that a business trades online without owning a dedicated website.

Audit local business websites from Google Maps

MapMons can audit local business websites from Google Maps after the user enables Website Audits. Website Audits are optional and off by default.

When Website Audits are enabled, MapMons fetches each public business homepage and analyses the response locally in Chrome. MapMons checks mobile basics, HTTPS, trust signals, dated technology, and homepage conversion evidence. Audit pages are not sent to a MapMons server.

MapMons caches website verdicts locally for seven days. Version 1 is homepage-first and does not crawl an entire website.

Website-quality badges

MapMons uses seven verdicts: Goldmine, Social only, Site Down, Digital Fossil, Needs Rescuing, Could Do Better, and Actually Fine.

A verdict is qualification evidence, not a claim about the business owner. MapMons roasts websites, never people.

Filter Google Maps leads

MapMons filters the current Google Maps research session by minimum rating, minimum review count, Maps category, and website-quality verdict.

One-tap presets surface Goldmine leads, no-site or dead-site leads, and everything fixable. The Fresh reviews filter is a Pro feature and hides businesses whose newest visible review is known to be older than 30 days.

Auto Hunt

Auto Hunt visibly inspects the current foreground Google Maps results list until it finds at least the user’s target of up to 500 export-ready leads. It may inspect more listings than the target because each listing must be audited before it can qualify. It stops at the target, the confirmed visible end, or a stall. Auto Hunt does not use a hidden provider API or a MapMons background crawler.

Export leads with personalised outreach lines

MapMons exports filtered leads as CSV. Each exported row includes Maps listing details, website evidence, a personalised outreach opener, and an agent-ready brief.

The Free tier can export five rows over the local installation lifetime. MapMons Pro removes the CSV export limit and allows the opener template to be edited.

MapMons can request an on-demand backlink snapshot through DataForSEO. The user supplies a DataForSEO API login and password and pays DataForSEO directly under the user’s own account.

MapMons sends the checked domain to DataForSEO only when the user clicks the backlink-check button. Backlink results are cached locally to avoid repeated paid calls.

Privacy and permissions

MapMons has no analytics, telemetry, or backend account system. MapMons does not sell user data or send user data to MapMons servers.

Lead Finder mode works with Google Maps host access. Website Audits request broader website access only when the user chooses to enable the feature. DataForSEO access is optional and used only when the user connects credentials and requests a check.

Chrome storage holds settings, export counts, audit cache entries, opener templates, and optional DataForSEO credentials on the user’s device. The full policy is available on the MapMons privacy page.

Pricing

MapMons Free includes badges, filters, presets, tooltips, Copy opener, optional Website Audits, and five lifetime exported rows.

MapMons Pro costs $8.99 per month. MapMons Lifetime costs $79 once. Both paid options include unlimited CSV exports, editable opener templates, and the Fresh reviews filter.

MapMons offers a 30-day refund with no questions asked. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.

Current version 1 limitations

MapMons listing detection currently supports the English Google Maps interface on ten declared Google domains. Paste-ready Chrome Web Store translations exist for 54 locales, but publishing them is still a human launch task.

MapMons audits public homepages only. MapMons does not crawl contact pages, sitemaps, or entire sites in version 1.

MapMons is not a CRM, an email sender, a contact-enrichment database, or a bulk place-record service.

Product comparisons

MapMons vs Outscraper compares an in-browser qualification workflow with a cloud place-data service.

MapMons vs Get Map Leads compares a small in-browser qualification tool with a hosted prospecting and CRM platform.
